Besties & Babies

Wednesday night I had my last girls night before Emery's arrival. After sulking around for a week or two over too much gained weight, awful baby pains and all kinds of other stresses, I was in DESPERATE need of seeing these sweet ladies! We ate pizza and cupcakes, and did what we do best- gossip. I even ended the night with some good ole fashioned mischief! (Which despite our best efforts, did not induce labor!)

Thursday I had another doctor's appointment and just like I thought, everything is right on track. My complaint list is through the roof with my suspected broken rib, "lumpy belly", and the fact that I could be the Kankle Contest Champion of 2010, but Dr. G reassured me that all those complaints are "normal". Normal-smormal..... I feel awful! I have come to the conclusion that I couldn't be more ready to push this little booger out so from now on, I'm thinking labory thoughts :)

Picture Time!

As promised, here are a few pictures from the baby shower and her nursery. Of course my camera died right after the shower started so I don't have many.

My awesome belly cake!

Yumm!

Needs no explanation :)

I wish I would have gotten more pictures of everyone who was there but maybe someone will post some soon that I can see!

Here are some pictures of the nursery so far! First, let me tell you the horrible story of her crib bedding. Last Sunday, my mom and my sister decided to surprise me and order her crib bedding as a gift. (This is AFTER I had already gotten all the matching accessories and decor for her room at the shower). Tuesday, my sister received an e-mail from Storkland saying that my pattern was...... DAHH DAHH DAHH (scary voice) DISCONTINUED. Naturally, she has a mild stroke before calling my mom and giving her the bad news. They both agreed (thankfully) not to tell me because they knew that I would have the same reaction. I would have DIED!! So, for about 2 full days they could do nothing but sweat bullets over it because they couldn't find it anywhere else! In the mean time, the lady at Storkland went online and finally found a seller on Amazon who only had 4 left, so guess what came in the mail today?! MY BEDDING!! We narrowly missed what could have been a huge disaster! Lesson learned-the FIRST thing that you do when you start decorating a nursery- buy the crib bedding :)

That sparkly thing on top of the hamper is the wreath of bows from the baby shower that's going on the hospital door!

She's definitely going to know her name! :)

I still have A LOT to do but I think it's coming together nicely! I really wish I could paint the walls but I guess that's what I get for living in an apartment. Not for long, though :)

Busy as a Bee!

Wow what a busy week! Sunday my boss threw me the most AMAZING baby shower! I couldn't believe how many people were there to support the arrival of my little Emery. We ate, drank, and played a bunch of cute little games (including pin the sperm on the egg- instead of pin the tail on the donkey!) The amount of gifts I got was unbelievable. Emery will definitely be the best dressed little nugget in town. :)

I took Monday off work to "nest" and get her nursery in order, which was a completely overwhelming task for someone 31 weeks pregnant. Her room looked like a sea of never ending gift bags, so I called in the troops! Mom came over and helped me organize and decorate her entire room which of course, took us all day, but was so worth all the hard work because it looks great so far! I still have a few more things on my to-do list before her nursery is complete but we definitely moved mountains Monday!

Tuesday, Mitch and I had our first Childbirth & Parenting class at Baptist Hospital. It was a lot like I thought it would be with the typical powerpoint presentations, conversations about labor and delivery, and of course practicing several breathing techniques. I do have to admit, when the nurse was going over the different positions to relieve back pain, I almost lost it! Looking up and seeing a room full of pregnant women- on the floor- on all fours- was for some reason, the funniest thing I had seen all day! Overall, I'd have to say that the class wasn't that bad. We didn't have to watch live birth videos or anything like that, but I still have 5 more sessions that are 2 hours each, so something tells me that I won't get off scott-free. I'm sure that there is a disturbing video somewhere in my near future.

Thursday afternoon I had a doctors appointment that went very well! Since everyone and their grandma keeps telling me about how huge I look, and how there is no way that I will make it to November, of course I brought this to my doctor's attention. He reassured me that yes- I can and will get much bigger. My measurements are spot on for 31 weeks and everything is right on track! So now that I think about it, for all those people who think I look 9 months pregnant now, does this mean that I will look 11 months pregnant right before I have her? If your answer is yes, please keep it to yourself :)

I will post pictures from the baby shower and pictures of the nursery as soon as I get a chance. I hope everyone has a great weekend and WAR EAGLE! :)

Birthdays are the Best!

Happy 21st birthday to the sweetest, most amazing husband in the world! Today (yes, unfortunately on 9/11) is my wonderful husband's birthday and I couldn't be more excited! On top of being the birthday boy and getting everything on his wish list, he got to spend his birthday doing what he loves the most- watching Alabama football in Tuscaloosa! Mitch, I hope your birthday is everything you hoped it would be! Emery and I love you so much! :)

I have a very busy and exciting week ahead of me so get ready for lots of new posts soon! We have my baby shower this Sunday, our very first Childbirth & Parenting class on Tuesday, and a doctor's appointment on Thursday! I hope everyone else has a great week ahead!

Big Baby, Little Baby

Last weekend my brother, Brandon and his fiance, Jenny came in town from Erie, Pennsylvania. This visit was very much anticipated because I haven't seen them since Brandon's graduation from Auburn's Veterinary School last May. It was so great to see all THREE of them! Jenny is pregnant with my sweet nephew, William Smith Grimshawe, and she's absolutely glowing! Being only a month behind me, I was a little surprised to see how small her sweet baby bump is compared to my gigantic baby dome. I realize every pregnant woman is different but, combined with all the comments (from complete STRANGERS, might I add) about how big my belly is, and my family's constant "I swear there has to be twins in there, Christen!", I'm beginning to feel like I'm going to give birth to a hippo- or that I have turned into a hippo, myself! Either way, I'm so glad I got to visit and watch the first Auburn game of the season with them!

How sweet is this?! :)

In the words of my sweet brother- "Christen, your veins look angry." I bet they are. Thanks Brandon :)
